April 14, 2014 Drew Fleisher

There is nothing more comforting to many than spaghetti and meatballs, and many spend years working to perfect their meatball recipe. I have spent years working on my recipe, and finally have it right. Give this one a try, you'll love it.

Preview: Taco Bell Breakfast is coming March 27th

March 25, 2014 Drew Fleisher

In February, Taco Bell  announced that they would once again be rolling out a breakfast menu nationwide beginning March 27th, 2014.  Among the items tested at select locations prior to the announcement, and the one that received the most attention on social media outlets was the Waffle Taco.  One of my neighborhood Taco Bell restaurants jumped the gun and launched the menu early, so I was able to get ahold of some of the new breakfast items this morning, and of course I took one for the team to bring my thoughts to you.

Fettuccine Alfredo can be served with any protein, not just chicken or shrimp.

Fettuccine Alfredo can be served with any protein, not just chicken or shrimp.

My kids were out of school today, and my son asked for fettuccine alfredo for dinner.  I didn't want to do it with chicken like we normally do, but as I was thinking about it I realized that I had never posted my Alfredo recipe here.

Dinner Tonight: Italian Quinoa

We love Italian food in our home, and a frequent quick meal our kids yell for is a quick dinner of pasta with a sausage sauce.  I decided to try and take it to another place tonight by using quinoa to make it gluten-free and Paleo friendly.  Roasting the tomatoes take a lot of extra time, but cooking the quinoa will take most of the 50 minutes or so you will need to roast off the tomatoes, and trust me, there is no way to substitute the depth of flavors you will get unless it is summer time and you can throw whole tomatoes on the grill to slow roast them there.  The spinach will add some great contrasting flavor in addition to the contrasting color it brings, and you can add more than I did if you want more greens, but my kids were rebelling even with this.

Dinner Tonight: Saucy Hungarian Red Potato Goulash with Smoked Sausage and Savory Caramelized Onions

Few things warm you up on a cold winters night like a nice spicy ghoulash

Few things warm you up on a cold winters night like a nice spicy ghoulash

I was looking for something different tonight for dinner and ran across this great recipe for a spicy potato ghoulash.  The smoky spice of paprika dominates, but also works well with the kielbasa sausage and the wonderful sauce created by the combination of broth and the starch from potatoes cooking down.  A wonderful meal  when served with a nice crusty bread.

Food Cart Review: Bro Dogs

August 3, 2013 Drew Fleisher

Bro Dogs came out to cater my 20 year high-school reunion, and they did not disappoint.  I had The Dude - a Hand made sausage topped with cream-cheese, onions, mushrooms, bacon, cheddar, and jalapeño peppers on a custom made roll that holds up well to the toppings.

Strangely, it was the cream cheese smeared on the bun that really pulls this dog together.  The creaminess blends with the onions and peppers to provide a saucy feel to the dog.

The cart has a wider menu than he brought out on site to our event, and I will be looking them up next time I'm downtown to give them a try.  This is Fat Boy Heaven on a bun folks.
